Team Ghost BBT was as always at the event bright and early, Jock Green Team Captain was ready for the day, arriving at the event just after six so that he could “go for quick ride before the race, up Hillsnacks, down Robert Broom and then back” Green Quoted. This all before he was about to race against some of the best Mountain Bikers in the country, Ben Melt Swanepoel and Renier Bellingham who has recently had great form and won the Eqstra Spring Classic MTB race only one week ago.

The route was one of the most picturesque routes that Team Ghost BBT has competed in the last 6 months. Spectacular views and access to some of the West Rand’s premium properties made for a good route and great racing.
A the Start, Bellingham attacked trying to separate the riders early on in the race, however Swanepoel and Green had countered the move from Bellingham, this proved to be the move of the day as Green and Swanepoel capitalised on the fact that Bellingham had try to go to hard to soon and made good work of getting rid of Bellingham, after only 9km they had managed to open a gap over the chasing fied of more than 3 minutes and continued to increase the gap as the race went on.

Green and Swanepoel worked well together with Swanepoel doing the most of the hard yards in front whilst Green looked for an opportunity to attack, however it was not to be, Swanepoel was the stronger man on the day and managed to sprint Jock Green in what was his second 2nd place in as many weeks. Green commented afterwards, “I am happy with my form, it is all coming together”

Wynand de Villiers the race organiser and his team had prepared a great route, secured an awesome venue that will ensure that many a rider will make this race a must do for years to come.
